Man Attacked In Pub Toilet

A man has received hospital treatment after being attacked in a Manchester pub toilet.

The victim, a 39-year-old man, was on a night out with friends at Harpers Bar, Stalybridge on Saturday night.

At some point between midnight and 1.30am on Sunday the victim went to the toilet in the pub, which is attached to the Bridge Inn.

Another man in the toilet smashed a glass into the victim's face causing injuries to his face, eye, lip and his mouth.

The victim was taken to hospital and had 39 stitches and is continuing to be treated for his injuries.

The only description of the offender is that he was a man wearing a white top.

Detective Constable Phil Scargill of Tameside CID said: "This was a horrifically violent attack that was completely unprovoked.

"There were a number of people out that night and I am sure someone saw something or knows who is responsible.

"The victim was simply out enjoying himself with friends, but this resulted in hospital treatment. The offender should not be able to get away with this, so please if you know anything, please get in touch."
