Body Found By Reading River
The body of a teenage woman has been found close to the Kennet River in Reading.
Police said the remains of the 19-year-old were discovered on the footpath a short distance from the A33, near the Green Park industrial estate in the Berkshire town last night.
It is believed the woman worked locally in a shop, and had the contents of her handbag shrewn across the path.
Post-mortem tests are due to be carried out later.
Detective have yet to establish a motive for the murder, but believe it may have developed from a mugging.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said the victim was from Reading, and had been found by a passer-by, who phoned 999 at about 9.15pm on Monday.
The scene remained closed this morning and specialist teams investigated the area.
Detective Superintendent Karen Trego, leading the investigation, said: "We have a team of detectives working on this case and are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information about it."

Police Investigating If Woman Was Trying To Save Dog When She Was Hit By Train
British Transport Police investigating the death of a woman have said that she may have been trying to save a dog when she was hit by a train. The 22-year-old woman was struck by a train close to Ainsdale station near Southport, Merseyside at about 15:00 on Wednesday. Transport police said a dog was also found dead at the scene.
