Teens 'Killed Suspected Paedophile'
Two teenagers have been found guilty at the Old Bailey of killing suspected paedophile Robert Daley.
The court heard how a 15-year-old boy had murdered Mr Daley.
The girl, also 15, was found guilty of his manslaughter. Both were 10-2 majority verdicts.
The Old Bailey learned how the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, played a part in Mr Daley's killing in his home after hearing he would not be charged for an alleged sex attack on her. Robert Daley, 45, was informed that his case had been dropped by prosecutors, the same day the defendant and the 15 year old boy visited his flat in Stockwell, south London. Mr Daley, was later found with stab wounds to the heart.
Mr Daley was accused of sexual assault by the defendant, along with her 16-year-old sister and a woman, however they continued contact with him.
The court heard that upon learning he would not be prosecuted, Mr Daley called the girl. She sent a text back saying: "Stop calling and texting me. I really don't want anything to do with you. You are a perverted man and I can never forgive you."
The girl claimed, during the visit, Mr Daley sexually assaulted her and the boy stabbed him to help her escape.
Jonathan Rees QC, prosecuting said: "There is evidence that she later told people close to her that she stabbed him.
"It is the prosecution case that both defendants were both responsible."
Mr Daley had been arrested for various offences three months before his death. He denied all the allegations, and after review the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges.
The teenagers were remanded in custody for sentencing on November 17.
The victim's mother Inez Marks said in a statement to the court: "It feels like I have been stabbed in the heart. I don't think I will ever get over it."
Speaking after the verdict, a CPS spokesperson said of the original claims against Mr Daley: "The young female defendant in this case failed to assist police in the investigation and due to this and other conflicting evidence, the CPS was not satisfied there was a realistic prospect of conviction."
