Teen Jailed For Murdering 'Paedophile'
A teenage boy who stabbed a suspected paedophile to death "to teach him a lesson" has been given a life sentence.
The 15-year-old was convicted of the murder of Robert Daley, 45, and must serve at least nine years.
A teenage girl, also 15, was given a six-year sentence for manslaughter.
The court heard how the girl also played a part in Mr Daley's killing in his home after hearing he would not be charged for an alleged sex attack on her. Mr Daley, was informed that his case had been dropped by prosecutors the same day the defendant and the 15 year old boy visited his flat in Stockwell, south London. Mr Daley, was later found with stab wounds to the heart.
Mr Daley was accused of sexual assault by the girl, along with her 16-year-old sister and a woman, however they continued contact with him.
The court heard that upon learning he would not be prosecuted, Mr Daley called the girl. She sent a text back saying: "Stop calling and texting me. I really don't want anything to do with you. You are a perverted man and I can never forgive you."
The girl claimed, during the visit, Mr Daley sexually assaulted her and the boy stabbed him to help her escape.
The court heard how the pair, both 14 at the time, disposed of the blade, a mobile telephone and bloodstained clothing.
Judge Anthony Morris told the boy: "You saw what you were doing as acting in revenge for what you saw as an insult to your girlfriend."
During sentencing, the judge added: "You both showed chilling criminal sophistication for 14 year olds."
He added he was prepared to accept the allegations against Mr Daley were true.
But he added it was "understandable" in the circumstances that the Crown Prosecution Service had dropped the case.
