Witnesses Sought In Tesco Assault
Detectives from Newham are appealing for witness, and releasing CCTV stills, following an assault at Tesco Express in Forest Gate.
On Wednesday 1 December last year police were called to reports of an assault inside Tesco Express, Romford Road, in East London.
At about 11.10am two men entered the shop. The first man went to the back of the shop and began stealing food from the chiller and placing it in his jacket.
When challenged, he became violent and punched a 30-year-old male member of staff in the face. He was detained at the back of the shop while a second man was escorted outside.
The second man then unexpectedly came back into the shop and punched another member of staff, a 28-year-old male.
Both men then ran out of the shop, making off on mountain bikes. The victims were both taken to The Royal London Hospital with facial injuries, with one suffering a fractured jaw.
The first suspect is described as a white man with short blond hair, about 6ft 2ins, aged between 30- 40 and wearing a yellow high visibility jacket, a grey hooded top, blue denim jeans and gloves.
The second suspect is described as an Asian man, about 6ft tall, aged between 30-40 and wearing a baseball hat, black jacket, blue denim jeans and gloves.

Second Man Jailed For Shop Keeper Murder
A second man has been jailed for a robbery during which an elderly shop keeper was seriously assaulted. Vasile Christian David, 21, appeared at Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday where he was sentenced to a total of six years imprisonment for Robbery and Possessing a Firearm.

High Street Shop Closures Slow Slightly
The rate of high street shop closures has slowed slighted, according to a study. In the first half of the year, some 18 shops closed each day in town centres, down from 20 per day for the same period last year. Overall, 209 shops closed in the first half of the year, compared with 953 for the same period last year.

NHS recruitment drive to focus on over 50s
A new nationwide drive to recruit NHS staff, which will focus for the first time on the over 50s, has been was launched today. NHS Job Shop Day comprises of 220 events taking place around the country on or around 23 September. Around 150 Jobcentres across England will also be holding special NHS events on 23 September as part of NHS Job Shop Day.

British man arrested on rape charge in Thailand
A British man wanted in connection with the alleged rape of an eight-year-old girl has been arrested in Thailand. Sean McMahon, 45, was arrested by police in Bangkok following a request by the British embassy. He had been working as an English teacher in the capital.
