Appeal Launched Over Tower Hamlets Incident

Police are appealing for information following two incidents that may be linked in the vicinity of the Will Crooks Estate in east London. On Saturday, following a dispute between youths, a road traffic collision occurred whereby a young man sustained a broken leg. The circumstances of the collision are being investigated although there is nothing to suggest at this early stage that the collision was a deliberate act. Later that weekend, officers were made aware of two incidents where lit fluid was thrown at two addresses, one in Mallam Gardens, and a second in Dingle Gardens. These incidents occurred just after midnight on Monday, 14 February. No one was injured and no significant damage was caused to either property. Detective Inspector Stewart Garrick of Tower Hamlets Police, said: "We would encourage anyone who may have witnessed these incidents or that may have any background knowledge to these incidents to contact police."

Imaginative Approach Needed For NI Health Service

The British Medical Association (BMA) in Northern Ireland has today submitted its response to both the NI Executive draft budget and DHSSPS budget consultations.

Danny Lambe, Secretary of the BMA in Northern Ireland said: “Overall, BMA is concerned at the lack of detail contained in these proposals and the ongoing political wrangling that has led to a very short timeframe to responding. We believe that the DHSSPS should take a more imaginative Northern Ireland-wide approach to organising and managing the health service here, focusing on: Access to services, Planned and managed reconfiguration, Improving quality of care, Protecting front-line jobs, Reducing waiting times, Investment in preventative services and Evidence based GP-led commissioning. Mr Lambe continued: “The best way to achieve improvements in the health service, for the benefit of patients, is to ensure that all stakeholders are engaged with and listened to. BMA is, as always, ready to work with policy makers to ensure that changes to the health service results in better outcomes for patients”.
