Ex-BBC Presenter Pleads Guilty To Sex Charges
Former BBC and ITV presenter Peter Rowell has pleaded guilty to 12 charges of indecent assault on girls under the age of 16. Rowell, 53, also pleaded guilty to six charges of making indecent pictures of children and one charge of possessing indecent pictures of children. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of rape and the Crown accepted an alternative charge of indecent assault.
Man Jailed Over Rottweiler Attack
A man who was found guilty of owning two Rottweilers, which savaged a 10-year-old girl in a Dundee street, has been jailed for a year. Derek Adam, 39, was also banned from keeping dogs for life. Adam's dogs escaped from the garden of his ex-partner's Dundee home in August 2010. They attacked another dog before pulling the girl from her bike, dragging her into the road and mauling her, leaving her with permanent scars.
Child Benefit Cuts To Go Ahead
Following calls for child benefit entitlements to be made fairer the benefit will be removed for higher rate taxpayers. Chancellor George Osborne has said that in the coming months he will set out how the new policy will be implemented. Labour has said that the current policy was “unraveling” and in an “utter shambles”. Meanwhile David Cameron has acknowledged that there is an issue with high earning families and that single earning families were being hit hard.

A Catholic priest who spent 20 years as a fugitive in Spain has pleaded guilty to 21 counts of indecent assault on seven children. 85-year-old Francis Paul Cullen has admitted abuse of both boys and girls, who were aged six to 16 at the time of the incidents, which date between 1957 and 1991.

The former frontman of Welsh rock band Lostprophets Ian Watkins has pleaded guilty to 13 charges of sex offences against children, including the attempted rape of a baby. The 36-year-old from Pontypridd had previously "furiously denied" the charges against but charged his plea on the opening day of his trial on Tuesday.

PR consultant Max Clifford has pleaded not guilty to 11 counts of indecent assault. The 70-year-old appeared at Southwark Crown Court this morning. He faces charges relating to seven alleged victims, between the ages of 14 and 19, between 1966 and 1985. Speaking outside the court, Clifford said he was "totally innocent" of the allegations.

Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty had pleaded guilty to possession of drugs after arriving more than two hours late at a court appearance in London. An arrest warrant had been issued for the 28-year-old singer earlier on Tuesday after he failed to turn up at 9:30am for a hearing at West London Magistrates' Court.
