McIlroy Awarded Honorary Degree
One of Ireland's most successful golfers, Rory McIlroy, is to receive an honorary degree from the University of Ulster.
The US Open Champion is among other international figures including Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody and Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson who will be receiving the doctorates.
The degrees will be conferred during summer and winter graduation ceremonies.
A spokesman for the university said: “Rory McIlroy has quickly established himself as a major force in international golf as a Major winner and Ryder Cup hero.”
He is an Ambassador for UNICEF Ireland and made his first visit to Haiti with the human rights charity in June 2011.

A-level Students Receive Results
Students across England, Wales and Northern Ireland are receiving their A-level results today, as it has been revealed that a record-breaking number of students have been awarded the top A grades. More than a quarter of students - 26.7% achieved an A, an increase of 25.9% from last year, the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) revealed.
