Street Cleaner Stabbed For Stopping Robbery

A street cleaner is fighting for his life after he was stabbed while attempting to stop a suspected burglar in west London.

The incident occurred on Rylett Road, Shepherd's Bush, at about 2pm on Wednesday.

The unnamed Hammersmith and Fulham Council worker, who was stabbed in the chest, was taken by air ambulance to St Mary's Hospital, Paddington.

The council's deputy leader Greg Smith said: "Everyone at the council is thinking of our brave colleague at this difficult time.

"We understand that the police investigation is ongoing and we are hopeful that an arrest will be made soon."

Schoolboys Stabbed In London Street Attack
Two young boys have been stabbed in a London street attack, according to the Metropolitan police. The school boys aged 10 and 12 are recovering after being stabbed in Penrose Street, Walsworth, during what is thought to be an attempted robbery. Woman Fatally Stabbed At London College
Police in East London have launched an investigation after a woman was fatally stabbed at the offices of a college for overseas students. The 23-year-old victim suffered stab wounds to the neck and chest, in the St George's College office on Balaam Street, Plaistow, Scotland Yard said. A second woman was also injured in the attack.

Teens Arrested In Oxford Street Murder Probe
Police have arrested two teenagers in connection with a fatal stabbing outside a London fast food restaurant. Steven Bigby, 22, was knifed in the chest after leaving McDonald's restaurant on Oxford Street with friends on Monday during rush hour. Emergency services treated Mr Bigby at the scene but he was pronounced dead at St Thomas' Hospital.
