Police Stop Learner Driver Accompanied By Parrot
Police in West Yorkshire have reported that a learner driver was stopped for speeding on the M62 accompanied only by a parrot.
Officers stopped the female driving a 4x4 near junction 22 at around 08:45 on Sunday morning.
Learner drivers are banned from motorways and must be accompanied by a qualified motorist.
Police tweeted: "Since parrots are not allowed to supervise learner drivers, her vehicle has been seized."
Scottish Lifeboats Rescue Over 1,000 People In 2013
Over 1,000 people were rescued in 2013 by Scotland's lifeboats, figures from the RNLI have shown.
The voluntary services responded to 996 callouts, marking the first time since 2008 that there were fewer than 1,000 calls.
The Broughty Ferry station near Dundee was the busiest, with 105 launches. Arbroath was second with 53 shouts and then Oban, which had 52.
The RNLI said 1,007 people were rescued from its 47 lifeboat Scottish stations.
Tech Firm To Create 100 Jobs In Wales
One hundred jobs are to be created in Wales by hi-tech firm Ideoba, developing specialist web services for the financial sector.
Founded by former Plaid Cymru MP Adam Price and American financial services expert Andrew Auerbach, the company is to develop website search engines giving financial investment organisations access to advice from 300 million experts across the world.
Support comes from Harvard professor Harry Lewis, who taught billionaires Bill Gates of Microsoft and Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg.
Mr Price said Wales was "moving from coal mining to data mining."

Fatalities After Mid-Air Plane Crash
Four people are feared dead following a mid-air aircraft collision near a nature reserve. South Wales Police were alerted to the accident which occurred near the reserve at Porthcawl, just before 11am on Wednesday. Jeff Tildesley, Deputy Mayor of Bridgend Council, said he believed at least two people were killed in the incident.

Under restructuring plans announced on Friday, Marks & Spencer is to axe around 1,000 jobs following a review of head office operations and the financial services division. The company said the decision formed a "major part of Marks & Spencer's ongoing plan to accelerate business transformation".

Man Dies In Quarry Incident
A man has died following an incident at a disused quarry in Gwynedd. Two other people are being treated in hospital. At around 1.15pm on Sunday, North Wales Police received a report that a man had gotten into difficulties at the Dorothea Quarry in the Nantlle Valley area.

Woman Arrested Following House Fire
A woman aged in her 30s has been arrested following a house fire in Ruabon, Wales. At around 5.08am this morning (27 August), emergency services responded to reports of a house fire in Wynn Avenue, Ruabon. Neighbours were able to help a girl, 10, and a seven-year-old boy from the fire.
