Chilean Navy Rescue British Sailor
A Scottish yachtsman who was trying to sail around the world on his own has been rescued by the Chilean Navy.
Andrew Halcrow, 54, made an emergency call on Saturday 8th March when the propulsion system failed on his yacht, the 'Elsi Arrub', leaving him stranded in the Cabo Pilar area, around 390 kilometres west of Punta Arenas.
It is the second time he has had to abandon his travels. In 2006 he began feeling ill in south west Australia. Fortunately he was able to contact his girlfriend 10,000 miles away in the Shetland Islands.
