Major Fire At Birmingham Industrial Estate

Firefighters have been tackling a large blaze at an industrial estate in Birmingham.

It is the third such incident at the site in a week.

In a statement, West Midlands Fire Service said it was treating the fire as "suspicious".

The fire broke out at around 3am on Monday at Reddings Lane in Tyseley, and more than 70 firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

The warehouse contains a number of businesses and seven units were said to have been severely damaged by the fire. Yardleys Schools, which is adjacent to the site, remains closed on Monday to due restricted access; with Reddings Lane and Weston Avenue also closed.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Suspicious Glasgow Car Fires
Detectives in Glasgow's East End are investigating a spate of vehicle fire attacks in the city yesterday. Shortly after 3.30am police were called to a report of a vehicle fire in Ashvale Crescent, Glasgow. Upon arrival police were advised by Strathclyde Fire Service that four vehicles had been damaged by fire.

Chief Fire Officer Resigns Over Child Porn Arrest
A top fire officer for the West Midlands Fire Service has resigned after he was arrested on suspicion of making indecent images of children. West Midlands Police arrested Frank Sheehan, 55, yesterday at his home in Sutton Coldfield.

Motorists Advised To Avoid Area Of Tyre Fire
Motorists have been advised to avoid the Fairglen interchange at Rayleigh and the Carpenters Arms roundabout as smoke from a large tyre fire has reduced visibility. A stack of tyres more than 160ft long and 6ft tall on a waste storage site have been burning since Monday night.
