Man Arrested Over Assaults On Suspected Paedophiles
Greater Manchester Police have arrested a man in connection with alleged assaults on two suspected paedophiles.
It is understood that a man described as a "vigilante paedophile hunter" has been arrested in connection with assaults on two men in separate incidents on Friday and Saturday.
A 19-year-old man reported being attacked by a group of men in a church car park in Atherton, near Wigan at about 21:00 on Friday. It is understood that the group accused of the man of having arranged to meet what he believed to be a 14-year-old at the car park. Upon arrival he was attacked by a group of men, who filmed the incident. Police said that the 19-year-old later received messages demanding money, or the footage would be posted to Facebook. The man reported the incident to police on Saturday and was subsequently arrested. He has since been bailed pending further inquiries.
This was followed by another attack on Saturday at about 14:40 at Market Place in Wigan.
A 25-year-old man from Skelmersdale was accused of arranging to meet a 14-year-old girl, before being attacked.
The attack was filmed and the footage later posted online.
Escaping his attackers, the man contact police, and was also subsequently arrested and charged with grooming.
Police said that their investigation is ongoing.

Wanted Man Arrested In London
The man wanted in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man who intervened during a robbery, has been arrested. Ian John McLoughlin, 55, was arrested in London at around 01:00. He was wanted on suspicion of murder and robbery. Airports and ports had been put on alert as police hinted for McLoughlin.

Police granted more time to question Abigail suspect
Surrey police have been granted more time to question a 25-year-old man in connection with the stabbing of Abigail Witchalls last week. The man was arrested on Wednesday evening in Croydon, south London and is being held in custody at Staines police station. Police will now be able to question him until Saturday morning.

Police Dig Up Pub Patio In Search For Missing Landlady
Police investigating the disappearance of a landlady in Cambridgeshire in 1997 are digging up the patio of her former pub. Deborah Steel, 37, was landlady of the Royal Standard in Ely, Cambridgeshire, when she disappeared on 28 December 1997. Police have said that Ms Steel's disappearance is now being treated as a murder investigation.

Seven Arrested On Suspicion Of Terrorist Fundraising
Seven people have been arrested on suspicion of terrorist financing offences, according to the Metropolitan Police. They were arrested at four separate addresses in London, Cardiff and Coventry at approximately 6am on suspicion of being concerned in the funding of a terrorist organisation, and laundering the proceeds of crime for that purpose.
