Man In Court Charged With PC's Death
An 18-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of PC Dave Phillips.
Phillips died in the early hours of Monday, 5 October, after he was struck by a stolen pick-up vehicle in Wallasey, Merseyside. The vehicle mounted a central reservation before it hit the officer.
Clayton Williams, 18, is also charged with attempting to wound another police officer, burglary, and aggravated theft of a motor vehicle. He was remanded into custody to appear before Liverpool Crown Court on Friday.
A second man, 30-year-old Phillip Stuart, has also been charged with burglary and aggravated unauthorised taking of a car. He was remanded in custody until 22 October. He will also appear before Liverpool Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.
Three women, aged between 19 and 59, and a 39-year old man, who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender earlier this week, have all been released on bail pending further inquiries.

23 Charged With Drug Offences Following Raids
More than 20 people have been charged with drug offences following a number of raids carried out in London, Gravesend, Dover and Deal. A total of 23 people were arrested during twenty raids carried out over three days. The suspects, ranging in age from 17 to 52, have all been charged in connection with the supply of class A drugs.

Gunman's Ashes Scattered Near Rothbury
The ashes of 'fugitive' gunman Raoul Moat have been scattered by his family near the spot where he took his own life. Moat died on July 10 in Rothbury following a six-hour stand-off with police. He had been on the run after shooting his former girlfriend, killing her new boyfriend and shooting a police officer.

Man Faces Baby Murder Charge
A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a four-month-old baby girl. Craig Jamieson, 28, from Scotscoun, appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, where he was remanded in custody. Mr Jamieson was arrested on Friday, shortly after the baby died in Glasgow's Yorkhill Hospital, after being taken from her home in Partick.

Five men arrested in a series of anti-terrorism raids in Birmingham last week have appeared in court charged with terrorism offences. One man, Parviz Khan, 36, has been charged with plotting to kidnap and kill a British soldier. He has also been charged, along with the other four men, with supplying equipment and funding for a terrorist act.
