Man Dies in 'Serious' Quarry Accident
A quarry worker has died following a "serious accident" at a site in Northumberland.
It is understood the incident occurred at Harden Quarry, near Rothbury, shortly after 10.30am on Wednesday morning, 7 October. The accident is thought to have involved a tractor.
Emergency services were called to the scene after a major emergency alert was issued by Lafarge Tarmac, the site operator.
Northumbria Police has confirmed an investigation is now underway by the Health and Safety Executive. No further information has been released.

Diver's body recovered from flooded quarry
The body of a 31-year-old diver has been recovered from a flooded quarry that has claimed the lives of over 20 divers in the last 10 years. A robot submersible was called in to help with the search for the body of Jason Steven Dean from Wallasey in Wirral who was reported missing following a dive on Saturday at the Dorothea Slate Quarry in Gwynedd.

Schoolgirl critically ill following accident at rail crash site
A 15-year-old schoolgirl has been left in a critical condition after she was hit by a car while paying tribute to two fellow pupils killed in a rail crash last week. The girl was among a group of mourners who were injured when a car mounted the pavement near Salisbury School in Edmonton, north London on Monday afternoon.

Driver Arrested After Car Crashes Into Train At Level Crossing
An investigation has been launched into an incident in which a car collided with a train in Berkshire. British Transport Police have confirmed a car crashed into a train at a level crossing at Datchet in Berkshire at about 06:05 this morning. It is understood that the 67-year-old female driver was not injured in the collision.

Aircraft Causes Delays At Stansted Airport
Flights arriving at Stansted Airport have faced delays after landing equipment was damaged by an incoming flight. It is understood a Gulfstream G550 jet damaged a section of the airport's instrument landing system (ILS), but was able to land safely.
