Lanterns Banned By Welsh Council
Chinese lanterns have been banned on all council-owned and managed property in Powys amid "widespread concern" over the environmental impact.
Described as a "virtual incendiary", the council said that the lanterns were a danger to people, farm animals, wildlife and property.
After agreeing the ban, Powys Council urged for the lanterns to be banned across Wales.
Police Appeal For Man Wanted On Prison Recall
Police have appealed for help in tracing a man wanted on emergency prison recall.
Dylan Walt, 19, had been staying at an address on Derwentwater Road in Gateshead but recently breached the conditions of his bail.
Police have been carrying out enquiries to locate him and it is believed he may be in the Sunderland area where he used to live.
Officers are appealing for the public's help in tracking Dylan down and want anyone with information about his whereabouts to get in touch.
Plane Crashes In Cambridgeshire
An investigation has been launched into a plane crash in the Fens in Cambridgeshire.
Emergency services were alerted to the crash by a member of the public this morning at about 10:30.
It is not yet known if there are any injuries as a result of the crash.
Police said that more information will follow.

BT issues child porn warning
BT has warned that the number of attempts to access child pornography on the internet has increased in the past 18 months. The telecoms company reported that its screening software, used to block access to sites featuring banned images of children, is now blocking 35,000 hits per day.

Smoke breaks banned by council
A district council is to ban employees from taking cigarette breaks. West Lancashire District Council voted in favour of a complete ban on smoking in its building and outside council premises. Staff will only be able to smoke during their lunch breaks, but will not be able to do so in or near council buildings.

Counter Terrorism Police Arrest Two In Luton
Two men have been arrested by the Counter Terrorism Command unit of the Metropolitan Police. The men, said to be aged 37 and 61, were arrested in Luton on suspicion of supporting a banned organisation. Police said the men are currently in custody and are being held at Bedfordshire police station.

Man Banned From Contacting Emergency Services
A man has been banned from making phonecalls to emergency services in Merseyside after being found guilty of persistently making use of public communications network to cause annoyance. Ross O’Mara, 36, of Islands Brow, was arrested on June 19 for wasting police time and being a public nuisance following a series of calls to the emergency services.

Godolphin Trainer Banned For Eight Years
Godolphin racehorse trainer, Mahmood al Zarooni, has been banned for eight years after admitting to doping offences. Following a disciplinary panel hearing in London, the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) also confirmed that fifteen of Mr al Zarooni's horses have been suspended from running for a six-month period.
