Party killer sentenced to 14 years

A teenage girl who murdered another teenager at a birthday party has been detained for a minimum of 14 years.

Beatriz Martins-Paes was found guilty of the murder of Charlotte Polius, 15, who was stabbed in the heart at a birthday party in Ilford, east London, on April 10 last year.

The Old Bailey in London was told how Martins-Paes, now 18, removed the knife from her victim and put it back in her bag before attempting to leave the party.

Martins-Paes, from Brentwood, Essex, had denied murdering Charlotte but was convicted earlier this year.

The sentencing comes as Scotland Yard announced that they are searching for Martin-Paes' father, Julio, in connection with the attempted murder of his partner last month.

The forty-year-old woman, who has not been named, was stabbed in the chest and thigh after being attacked in her car in Dagenham, east London.

Mr Martin-Paes, 41, is described as black, about 5ft 11in tall, with brown eyes and a shaved head.
