Investigation launched into missing REM tickets
Police have launched an investigation into the alleged theft of more than a hundred tickets for a concert by US band REM in Dublin later this year.
The investigation was launched after 122 tickets for the band's sold-out show at the Olympia Theatre on June 30 went missing in transit between the UK and their arrival at the venue box office on March 30.
Although it is understood that there is no evidence that the tickets have shown up on tout websites, concert promoter MCD has warned fans not to be "misled into purchasing tickets at inflated prices from unofficial sources as they run the risk that these tickets could be stolen".
The tickets in question are all standing tickets, with sequence numbers between 0379 to 0500 inclusive, and are for the June 30 show only.
All the missing tickets have now been cancelled and anyone who tries to gain entry to the show with a stolen ticket will be refused entry.
Anyone who is offered the tickets for sale is asked to contact Pearse Street Garda Station on: 0353 1 666 9000 or any Garda station immediately.
REM are set to play five shows at Dublin's Olympia Theatre on June 30, July 1, July 3, July 4 and July 5.
The shows, which are entitled 'Working Rehearsal', will showcase songs from the forthcoming spring recording sessions and offer fans the chance to hear the band play new material before it appears on their next studio album, which will be their fourteenth.
