Toddler dies in stream tragedy
A toddler has died after being found in a stream during a family holiday in Perthshire.
Rory Neil Cochran, who was 22 months old and from Edinburgh, was found in the Tullochcurran Burn, near Blairgowrie on Sunday afternoon.
His family had earlier reported him missing from their log cabin in Kirkmichael, between Blairgowrie and Pitlochry.
An RAF helicopter was scrambled as the search, involving sniffer dogs, was launched in the area where the child was last seen.
Found in a stretch of the burn around 2:30pm, he was flown to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, but died shortly afterwards.
Tayside Police said that the boy's death was not being treated as suspicious.
The family's holiday cottage was located on the privately owned Balnakilly estate in Strathardle.
Anthony Reid, the owner of the estate, said that the family only arrived at the cottage on Saturday.
Mr Reid told reporters the burn was not normally deep, but said that it had been raining all night and may have risen.
A post-mortem is due to be carried out on Monday.
