Teen Jailed For Sister's Fatal Shooting

A 17-year-old youth has been jailed for two years for the fatal shooting of his sister.

Kasha Peniston admitted accidentally shooting 12-year-old Kamilah at their home in Gorton, Greater Manchester.

Kamilah was shot in the head as her brother played with the gun. She died the following day.

Kasha had initially been charged with murder but had pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

His mother, Natasha Peniston, was jailed for three years for possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. The court heard how she had been "prevailed upon" by a boyfriend to look after the gun and had hidden it in the garden of her home, but had told her son about it before travelling to London on the day of the shooting.

Passing sentence Mr Justice Holland said that Kasha had already given himself a life sentence by having shot his own sister dead.
