DJ Andy Kershaw Jailed For Restraining Order Breach

DJ Andy Kershaw has been jailed for three months for breaching a restraining order involving his former girlfriend.

The 48-year-old BBC Radio 3 DJ had pleaded guilty to breaking the order at the High Baliff's Court in Douglas on the Isle of Man.

The breach of the order took place in Peel on the island on November 2 last year, when Kershaw approached Juliette Banner and her new partner, Jim Imrie, at Peel Breakwater.

Miss Banner, who has a ten-year-old son and an eight-year-old daughter with Kershaw, described his behaviour as "menacing and provocative".

Kershaw has been given a three-month suspended jail term at the same court in October after admitting harassing Ms Banner. He also spent a week in prison last year for breaching bail conditions.

Passing sentence on Tuesday, High Baliff Michael Moyle said that Kershaw's life was turning into a "Greek tragedy". He said: "You seem hell-bent on destroying yourself and you do not seem to appreciate that the author of your destruction is yourself."

He said that Miss Banner and Mr Imrie were "entitled to be protected from their unlawful activities".
