Dad Jailed For Baby's Death
A father has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in jail for the death of his baby daughter.
Wayne Robertson, 30, of Russell Street, Loughborough admitted to the manslaughter of his 10-week-old Lila at Birmingham Crown Court in April.
Robertson was arrested in November, 2006 on suspicion of murder.
Lila died from a brain injury three days after being admitted to Leicester Royal Infirmary.
It is reported that the infant also sustained multiple rib injuries and a fractured leg.
The baby's mother Shaffreen Khan was also charged with murder but was cleared of causing her baby's death last month.
The court heard that Robertson had become "frustrated" with his daughter as she was in a "whingey mood".
Judge Julia Macur presiding over the case said Robertson was "responsible" for his daughter and that her life "was brought to a premature end".
Mrs Justice Macur added that she accepted Robertson was remorseful and had "suffered psychologically" as a result of Lila's death but she had a duty to protect vulnerable children.
Robertson's barrister, Charles Chruszcz QC said that he had not intended to cause his daughter serious harm and that "he has lost his daughter...in a tragedy".
The court heard that Lila was the "centre" of her mother's world.
