Wind And Rain To Batter UK
The Met office has issued severe weather warnings for large parts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
There is a risk of localised flooding with some parts of the UK expecting over a fortnight's rainfall (50mm) within 24 hours.
The ground is already saturated from a wet August.
Heavy downpours overnight and this morning in Gloucestershire led to road closures.
Firefighters were needed to pump out flooded homes and the AA has reported a higher than normal number of breakdowns as cars ran into trouble after driving through floodwater.
The weather is not expected to improve much over the weekend, with more rain and thundery showers expected.
