Man Remanded Over Newsagent Murder
A 38-year-old man has appeared in court today charged with the murder of a shop owner in Luton.
Richard Leslie Dettmer, 38, of no fixed address, is charged in connection with the death of 59-year-old Jashbhai Patel, who was found at Moon's Newsagents in Park Street, Luton in the early hours of Sunday.
Mr Patel died later in hospital.
A post mortem examination confirmed he died from multiple stab wounds.
Dettmer is accused of murder and causing grievous bodily harm.
He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on 30 June.

Luton Airport has been evacuated after a suspicious object was found in the security search area. All incoming flights have been suspended and the road to the airport has also been closed by police. London's Luton Airport is to get a new runway and terminal building if plans for the long-term development of the airport get the go-ahead from planners. The plan has been advanced as Luton Airport's present facilities will reach capacity inside the next few years.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder
A man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident in Faversham at the weekend. Kent Police confirmed Lincoln Payne, of no fixed abode, had been charged with robbery, theft and two counts of attempted murder following an incident in Fostall Avenue on Saturday, 30 May.

Gunman 'Makes Threats To The Public'
Police hunting for a fugitive gunman who is alleged to have shot three people in Northumbria have revealed that he has now made threats to members of the public. Raoul Moat, 37, has been on the run since the weekend shootings, which left his girlfriend injured, her new boyfriend dead and a police officer injured.

Man Faces Baby Murder Charge
A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a four-month-old baby girl. Craig Jamieson, 28, from Scotscoun, appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, where he was remanded in custody. Mr Jamieson was arrested on Friday, shortly after the baby died in Glasgow's Yorkhill Hospital, after being taken from her home in Partick.
