Second Fatal Shooting In Manchester Probed
Police are investigating the shooting of a man in a car park in Greater Manchester.
Mohammed Junaid Khan, 21 - known as Junaid - was shot dead at close range with an automatic weapon as he lay on the ground in the car park in Block Lane, Chadderton, Rochdale on Thursday.
It is the second such shooting in Greater Manchester within the past week, however, police sources said they have "no evidence" to link it to the killing of 30-year-old Nasar Hussain at Brookhouse Supermarket in Salford on Saturday.
Mr Khan, of Cotton Mill Crescent, died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Det Supt Julian Ross, who is leading the investigation, said: "Junaid was gunned down in a horrific attack and it is vital that we work with the community to find the people responsible.
"I know a number of people went down to the car park following the shooting and I would urge them to speak to police if they haven't done already.
"We know there had been speculation that this murder is linked to the shooting in Salford at the weekend. That is obviously a line of inquiry but at this stage no evidence of a link has been uncovered."
Thirteen people were arrested in connection with Mr Hussain's murder at the Brookhouse Wine shop in Winton, Salford.
Twelve were later bailed while a 20-year-old man remains in custody on suspicion of murder.
