Family Appeal Over Murder Of 'Decent Law-Abiding Citizen'
The family of a Birmingham taxi driver who was stabbed and left on the roadside to die, have issued an appeal to help catch his killer.
Mohammed Arshad, 36, died last Thursday after being assaulted in Kings Norton, Birmingham, on Wednesday night.
He was found by a passer-by and taken to Selly Oak Hospital where he died the following morning.
The victim's abandoned car, a blue Ford Galaxy people carrier, was discovered a mile away from Wast Hills Lane in Shannon Road in the city.
Yesterday, in an emotional appeal, Mr Arshad's cousin Aieysha said the murderer had taken the life of a "loving father, devoted husband, caring son and a decent law-abiding citizen".
She continued, saying the 39-year-old was "a passive, soft-hearted man who was repeatedly stabbed with a knife in what appears to be a completely unprovoked attack whilst out driving his taxi".
The father-of-three, did not deserve to die in this way, they said.
"Words alone cannot express our grief, our total sense of loss and our feelings of utter disbelief that someone, somewhere, could murder another human being in such a cowardly and callous manner," the statement said.
West Mercia Police also said they were seeking the driver of a red coupe who was seen at the time Mr Arshad was found.
They also want to identify a man who said his name was 'Peter' and called for a taxi at 8.20pm last Wednesday night.
Police added that there was no evidence to suggest the killing was carried out by a gang or group of people.
