Men Sentenced Over Sectarian Murder
Two men have been given life sentences for the sectarian murder of a 15-year-old schoolboy seven years ago.
Christopher Francis Kerr, 26, and Aaron Cavana Wallace, 24, both from Moat Road in Ballymena, pleaded guilty at their trial.
Victim Michael McIlveen died as a result of brain injuries suffered when he and two friends were attacked in 2006. A Catholic schoolboy, it has been confirmed that the motive for Michael's death was sectarian.
Mr Kerr and Mr Wallace were originally convicted of the murder in 2009, but later had their convictions quashed on appeal.
A retrial was ordered and the two pleaded guilty.
Appeal For Missing Man
The PSNI has launched a further appeal as to the whereabouts of a 68-year-old man who has been missing since 31 March.
Maurice Rubens, from Donaghcloney, County Down, was last seen at about 18:00 on Sunday 31 March in a takeaway on Main Street in the village.
He is described as being of short and stocky build, with a black and white beard.
He was wearing a blue beanie hat with a red and white Arsenal logo at the time, as well as a black coat and a slim blue rucksack.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Lurgan Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
Man Convicted For Benefit Fraud
A man has been convicted at Antrim Magistrates’ Court for claiming £14,702 of benefits he was not entitled to.
61-year-old Liam McKay of Mainebank, Antrim, claimed Income Support while failing to declare capital. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £34.
Mr McKay has repaid all the money he wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
Farmer Sentenced Over Cattle Regulations
A farmer has been sentenced at Dungannon Magistrates' Court on three charges under the Cattle Identification Regulations.
Mr Patrick James Montague, Glencull, Ballygawley, Co Tyrone had previously pleaded guilty to the charges.
Mr Montague was fined £600 plus £25 costs and £15 offender’s levy. On charge one he received two months imprisonment suspended for two years.
These Breaches of the Regulations were discovered at a Cattle Identification Inspection carried out by DARD Inspectors.

Derry man jailed for crime committed 20 years ago
A Londonderry man has been jailed for nearly two years for sexually abusing three young sisters over 20 years ago. James Curran, 63, had his original sentence of probation overturned at the Appeal Court in Belfast. He was also sentenced to three years probation for indecent assaults.

Wife found guilty of Gault murder
In Belfast Crown Court today, a woman has been convicted of the murder of her husband in May 2000. Lesley Ann Gault, a 35-year-old mother of triplets, was found guilty of the murder of Paul Gault by a majority verdict. The jury had been considering their verdict since Tuesday.
