Family Tied Up During Burglary
A family has been tied up and attacked with a hammer during an aggravated burglary near Moira in County Down.
Six masked men tied up the family and hit one of the adults with a hammer during the assault.
The incident began when four of the gang armed with knives and a hammer forced their way into the house on the Drumbane Road at about 20:00 on Saturday evening.
Three children, a woman and two men who were in the house at the time were forced into one room.
The three adults were tied up with cable ties before the intruders began wrecking the house.
They threatened and assaulted one of the men they had tied up, striking him on his back with the hammer.
It is thought a further two members of the gang were waiting outside the house during the incident
Two other members of the family arrived at the house while the burglary was taking place and were also tied up and forced into the same room.
The gang then stole cash and a car belonging to the family.
The family has been left shocked by the ordeal.
Police have appealed for information or sightings of the blue Volkswagen Golf, registration number GL59 PYV.
All six men are described as being dressed in dark coloured jackets, tracksuits and trainers.
They all wore woollen gloves with balaclavas covering their faces.
Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact Lisburn police station on 0845 600 8000.
