Two People Stable After Suspected Ammonia Leak In Kilkeel

Two people are in a stable condition following a suspected ammonia leak at a fish factory in Kilkeel, Co Down.

Emergency services attended the scene at Young's Seafood processing factory on Monday, 16 July.

A total of 14 people were taken to hospital to be assessed.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) declared a major incident which has now been stood down.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) said the cause of the leak had been isolated before they arrived.

Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard said: "I sincerely hope that everyone who has had to be taken to hospital as a result of this spill makes a full and speedy recovery.

"I would like to also pay tribute to the fire and ambulance services who arrived at the scene quickly and to those who isolated the leak before it could cause further damage."

Ammonia Spill at Creamery In L'Derry
Emergency services are attending the scene following an ammonia spill at Ballryashane Creamery in L'Derry. The premises have been evacuated and the Creamery Road has been closed in both directions. Homes Evacuated Following Gas Leak In Newtonards
A number of homes were evacuated in Newtownards, County Down, following a gas leak early this morning. Emergency services responded to reports of a leak at Miller House apartments on Regent Street shortly after 8.30am on Tuesday 29 August.

NI Water Invests In Innovative Satellite Leak Detection Technology
NI Water has announced an expansion of its use of innovative satellite leak detection technology, following a series of successful trials which assisted the company in detecting leaks on their water network. The leaks are detected with the assistance of Satellite mounted SAR technology which identifies water spreading from underground pipes.
