Public Report Leads To Arrests Over Vehicle Theft

Police have praised members of the public whose reports of suspicious activity led to the arrest of two males for vehicle theft.

Officers were tasked to the Lady Wallace Avenue area of Lisburn shortly after 4am this morning, 26 July, after receiving information about men attempting to steal a car.

A PSNI spokesperson explained: "These individuals had already committed a creeper burglary in the Belfast area in which three vehicles had been stolen. After searching the surrounding area, a stolen vehicle was located and two males made off on foot. They were quickly apprehended and have been arrested for a number of offences.

"It's thanks to members of the public we were alerted to the movements of these individuals. Thank you and please keep reporting any suspicious activity."

Anyone with concerns about criminality in their local community can contact police on non-emergency line 101, or in the case of an emergency via 999. Information can also be passed confidentially by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
