Newtownabbey Burglary Sparks Call For Vigilance
A burglary in Newtownabbey on Monday night has prompted police to call for vigilance when it comes to home security as the winter sets in.
A black Audi A6 was stolen from the Rogan Manor area of the town sometime between 9pm and 10.45pm on 28 October. The car, registration NU13 XZF was stolen in one of a string of burglaries in recent weeks.
Police are counting to investigate the theft while urging members of the public to prioritise their home security throughout the winter.
"With the dark cold nights it’s easier for those unsavoury types to skulk around looking for opportunities," an officer warned.
"Remember to lock your doors and windows... even if you are in the house! Turn outside lights on, turn inside lights on, have cameras or camera doorbells if you can. They not only deter but also capture evidence for us to prosecute these so n so's.
"Most importantly be alert... if you see anything suspicious report it. Know who your neighbours are. Check in on your elderly neighbours."
Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the Rogan Manor area or has information about the stolen vehicle is urged to call police on 101 quoting reference 268 of 29/10/19.
