Bottle Wielding Teen Makes Off After Armed Robbery Attempt
A young man attempted to rob a fast food restaurant in east Belfast while carrying a broken bottle, police have said.
The suspect, described as being aged in his late teens, targeted a business in the Granton Park area of Tullycarnet at around 6.25pm on Wednesday evening, 08 January.
It's reported that he demanded money from a member of staff before attempting to climb over the counter and eventually fled the scene on foot empty handed.
The suspect is described as having dark hair and wore black and grey clothing and black woven Nike gloves with a white tick. He wore his hood up and had his face covered throughout the incident.
Detective Sergeant Duffield has appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact detectives in Musgrave on 101 quoting reference 1654 of 08/01/2020.

UDA admits shooting leading Loyalist
The UDA has admitted that it carried out the shooting of a leading loyalist in north Belfast last night. Davy Mahood, a former member of the Ulster Political Research Group (UPRG), was shot in both legs by masked gunman near the Benview community centre in Ballysillan yesterday evening. He was taken to hospital and is said to be a stable condition.

Young girl escapes abduction attempt
A 12-year-old girl has escaped an abduction attempt in west Belfast on Wednesday. The driver of what was described by police as a "distinctive" black four-door car shouted at the girl to get into his vehicle on the Shaw's Road at about 9.15pm. The girl immediately screamed and ran off.
