Bogus callers rob pensioner in north Belfast
Police are appealing for information after bogus callers robbed the home of an elderly women while she was still in her house in north Belfast on Monday.
Police investigating reports of a burglary at a flat on Shore Crescent were making house to house enquiries when they called at the home of a woman in her late eighties.
When the police officers described the burglars to the pensioner she told them that two men of similar description had called at her home between 1.30pm and 4.30pm claiming to be gasmen.
They then forced their way into her kitchen where they rummaged through cupboards finding a purse, before stealing a sum of cash and leaving. The woman was left shaken but unhurt by the incident.
The two men are described as being in their twenties and around 5’ 9” tall. One of the men is of stocky, plumpish build with dark wavy hair, wearing a white t-shirt and spoke with a Southern Irish accent.
Anyone who may have seen the men in the area or may have answered their door to them is asked to contact detectives at Antrim Road.

Attempted robbery of County Down pensioner
Police have warned people to be vigilant after bogus callers attempted to rob a pensioner in County Down. The incident happened at around 2.30pm yesterday, when a boy called to the 86-year-old woman's home at Vianstown in Downpatrick, claiming that he had kicked his football into her back garden.

Police have appealed for information after a pensioner was robbed at her Co Armagh home early this morning. The 82-year-old woman was awoken around 2.30am by noises downstairs at her Mark Street home in Lurgan.
