Police seize goods in Newtownards market

Police, in conjunction with Customs and Excise, have seized goods valued at almost £10,000 from a Sunday market in Newtownards.

Shortly after 10am on October 31 officers seized a variety of goods that included DVDs, music CDs, cigarettes and rolling tobacco at the market held on the Portaferry Road in the Co Down town.

It is reported that there were no arrests made following the seizure.

Police uncover two counterfeit goods operations
Police have closed down two separate counterfeit goods operations one in Belfast and one located in Portadown worth over £350,000. A range of equipment worth an estimated £200,000 was uncovered by police officers from the Serious and Organised Crime Unit in Portadown yesterday.

Ramraider shot by police in Newry
A man has been shot and six police officers injured after a ramraider went on the rampage in Newry in the early hours of this morning. Previous to the shooting, there were three ram raid incidents – the first of which occurred at a tool-hire premises in Carnbane Industrial Estate shortly after 1am.

Counterfeit goods seized during police raid
Around £75,000 of counterfeit goods have been recovered by police during a planned search operation in north Belfast yesterday.
