Men in hospital following assault

Two men have been taken to hospital following an assault in County Antrim.

The victims, aged 31 and 38, were discovered by police on routine patrol at Grange Walk, Ballyclare at around 3.00am on Monday.

It is understood they are being treated for head injuries. However their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A 39-year-old man is currently helping police with their enquiries and the scene of the attack is cordoned off.

Police are appealing for information after a gang assaulted a man and stole his guns in Co Antrim. The masked men forced their way into the man's home in Burnbrae in Bushmills at around 1.30am on Tuesday morning. They hit the man before tying his hands behind his back and escaping with three guns.

Injured female police officer regains consciousness
The police officer who was left severely injured when an attacker beat her about the head with an iron bar has regained consciousness. The 54-year-old female officer was attacked by the man in the early hours of Monday morning whilst on duty inside Lisburn Police Station.

Serious assault victim dies from injuries
A 24-year-old man left critically ill after an assault in west Belfast over the weekend has died in hospital. Police were already treating the brutal attack on the young man as attempted murder. The man was attacked at around 2.30am on Sunday as he and a female companion walked along North Boundary Street towards the Shankill area of Belfast.
