Huge disruption caused after series of bomb alerts

Security forces have been called out to deal with a number of bomb alerts across the province this morning.

In Belfast city centre, the area around Wellington Place has been sealed off after two armed men left a package on a bus.

The two men boarded the bus at the junction of the Grosvenor Road and Falls Road at 10am this morning.

Army Technical Officers (ATOs) carried out two controlled explosions on the package.

The alert has caused major traffic disruption in the city centre and motorists have been asked to avoid the area.

Also in Belfast, the CastleCourt shopping centre has been evacuated for a time after a telephone warning was made to a local newspaper at around 11.20am.

In Co Antrim, Belfast International Airport is also suffering disruption following a telephoned bomb warning. Security services carried out searches of the area.

And in Co Armagh, William Street near Brownlow Terrace in Lurgan was been cordoned off following the discovery of a suspect package.
