Five Hospitalised After 'Dissident' Attack
A two-year-old girl has escaped injury after a paramilitary-style attack on a house in Poleglass.
Five other people, who were in the house at the time, are being treated in hospital following the incident.
A Sinn Fein MLA has claimed dissident republicans were to blame for the attack.
Shots were fired at the property on Lagmore Avenue near to west Belfast at around 10.30pm last night.
Occupants were showered with glass and pellets during the attack.
Three men aged 20, 25 and 32 sustained shotgun pellet injuries and two women suffered shock.
All five were taken to Lagan Valley Hospital for treatment.
Police have appealed for anyone with information, regarding what they described as a "paramilitary-style attack", to contact them.
They want to hear from anyone who may have any information about a dark coloured car seen speeding away from the area.
Assembly member Jennifer McCann, said she had learned that the house-holder and his brother were threatened earlier by a dissident group.
She believes the situation escalated following a quarrel with one of their members.
SDLP MLA Alex Attwood has also condemned the attack.
He said: "Whether or not there was an intention to kill, there was very clearly a callous disregard for the people in the house and the outcome could have been fatal,
"Whatever the motivation, this type of incident has to be stopped and strong community support for the police investigation is the only way to stop it."
