Three men plead guilty over bomb find

Three men have pleaded guilty to possession of a bomb at Belfast Crown Court today.

The court heard charges relating to the discovery of the 100 kg bomb which was made of home-made explosives.

The bomb was found packed into a white van at the Teemore crossroads on the Enniskillen-to-Dublin road in November 2000.

The three men, all from County Fermanagh, were named as Sean Maurice Gilleece from Kinawley, John James Connolly, and John Francis Swift, both from Newtownbutler.

The court adjourned until Friday when sentencing will be carried out.

Teenage girls injured by glass in paint attack
Three teenage girls have been injured after their home was attacked in Londonderry on Monday night. The girls, who were at the front of the house at the time, suffered cuts to their legs caused by broken glass after paint was thrown through the front window of the house in the Fountain Estate area at about 10pm.

The suspects, aged 31, 35 and 39, have been charged with arson, possessing a petrol bomb in suspicious circumstances, throwing a petrol bomb and attempted intimidation.

Viable Pipe Bomb Found In North Belfast
A viable pipe bomb has been found in north Belfast, police have confirmed. Police and army bomb experts discovered the device in the garden of a house in Shore Crescent on Monday. The pipe bomb has been removed for further examination. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Lisburn On Alert As Pipe Bomb Explodes
There's an ongoing security alert in progress in Lisburn, Co Antrim after a pipe bomb device exploded at 9.30am this morning. A family escaped injury in the blast and the PSNI have said this afternoon that is not clear if the explosion occurred when the car drove over it, or that it had fallen off the vehicle.

Overnight gun and pipe bomb attacks
A number of people have escaped injury after a series of gun and pipe bomb attacks on their homes in County Antrim. A ten-year-old boy escaped in jury after shots were fired into a house at Mounthill Drive in Cloughmills, County Antrim.
