Fermanagh Hit By Fresh Security Alert
Just hours after 12 homes in west Belfast were evacuated because of a bomb scare, a fresh security operation is now ongoing in Co Fermanagh.
The B36 Road between Dernawilt and Rosslea has today been closed to traffic as Army technical officers examine the scene.
The incident follows yesterday's alert in the Glendale area of west Belfast, which began about 7pm.
Army technical officers were previously called to the scene of that alert, to examine a suspect car.
Although the alert lasted several hours, it ended safely shortly after midnight.
A police spokesman said the car had been examined and nothing suspicious had been found.
Today, the police have said they were acting on information passed on to them in regard to the Fermanagh scare.
"It follows a claim by dissident republican terrorists that an explosive device had been left on the route," a statement said.
Several families have been evacuated from their homes and the road is expected to remain closed for some time.
Meanwhile, rogue republicans have also been blamed for an attack on the home of a Sinn Féin representative.
Glass was broken at the property in Rasharkin belonging to North Antrim MLA, Daithi McKay on Monday morning.
