Petrol Bomb Attack On SF MLA's Home
The Londonderry home of a senior Sinn Féin member was pelted with petrol bombs during the early hours of this morning.
Mitchel McLaughlin (pictured) said those behind the attack are attempting to intimidate him and his family.
Two device were thrown at the Bogside property at around 1am, causing scorch damage to exterior walls. It is believed four people were inside the home at the time, and all escaped injury. Mr McLaughlin said the incident was simply "attempted murder", and branded those behind the attack "cowards".
"Once more cowards came in the dark of night and attacked my home in an attempt to intimidate me and my family," he said.
"The difference this time was that they attempted to set my home on fire with petrol bombs with no regard for anyone who was in the house at the time.
"This is attempted murder and there is no other way to describe it."
The windows of Mr McLaughlin's Derry home were smashed in a separate attack last month.
