Arrest After Car Plunges Into River
A man has been arrested in Evesham on suspicion of attempted murder, following an incident at the River Avon, Boat Lane.
Officers were called to the scene at around 9.19am after reports a car containing occupants had entered the river.
Emergency services including divers took part in a rescue operation and a man and two children were recovered from the river.
The man was taken to Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, where he was treated and later discharged.
A five-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy remain in critical conditions at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Superintendent Garry Higgins, of South Worcestershire Division of West Mercia Police, said: "This was obviously a very traumatic incident and our officers have been left very shaken by events. All of the emergency services involved in the operation worked closely throughout to effect the rescue.
"An investigation into the incident in now ongoing and we would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area around the river at Boat Lane this morning before 9.20am."

Second man dies following arson attack
A second man has died following an arson attack on a south London convenience store. Hamidi Hamidullah, 31, an Afghan national, was seriously injured when the Pricecutter store he was working in was attacked with a firebomb last Thursday afternoon. He was left critically ill following the attack at the Clapham Road store.

Man Airlifted To Hospital Following Stabbing
A man has been airlifted to hospital after he was stabbed in Pontypridd. The incident happened at around 12.30pm in the Taff Street area on Wednesday. In a statement, South Wales Police said Sardis Road was temporarily closed in order to allow an air ambulance to land.

Stabbed Salford Burglar Was On Bail
It has been confirmed that a burglar stabbed to death during a break-in at a Salford house, was on police bail following a separate suspected burglary. Earlier this month, John Leonard Bennell, 27, from Hyde, was arrested by police.

A man has died and four police officers are being treated in hospital following a contamination incident on the edge of the Borders region. Officers were called to a lay-by at Cocklawburn Beach, near Berwick-upon-Tweed just before 8pm yesterday where a seriously ill man was discovered.

Twenty-Five Injured In M4 Coach Crash
Around 25 people were injured when a coach crashed on the M4 near Newbury on Wednesday evening. The incident happened around 7pm, when the private hire coach came off the westbound carriageway, between junctions 14 and 15, and plunged around 30ft down an embankment.
