Nine Britons confirmed dead in Jordanian coach crash
Nine Britons are confirmed dead following a coach crash near the Jordanian tourist attraction of Petra yesterday.
According to reports, a tyre of the tour bus blew out on a stretch of the Desert Highway motorway, catapulting the vehicle into the path of an oncoming truck. The drivers of the coach and truck, and a third person, also died in the crash.
Eleven injured passengers are currently being treated at the King Hussein Medical Centre in the capital of Amman.
The Prince of Wales, who is currently in the country on an official visit, visited some of the survivors yesterday.
"My thoughts and prayers are with their families and those who are being treated by the excellent staff," he said.
The Britons were on a holiday organised by Kent-based Christian tour company Pilgrim Travel.
