Teens in court over park assault
Two teenagers are due to appear in court charged with the alleged assault of a man in a park in Newcastle at the weekend.
The 45-year-old man, reported to be an Iranian asylum seeker, was attacked in Walker Park on Friday night.
He is still in hospital and is understood to be in a serious condition.
Williams Day and Gary Shaun Smith, both aged 18, from Walker, Newcastle are due to appear before Newcastle Magistrates on Monday.
Northumbria Police have appealed for any witnesses to the attack to contact them.

Police Investigate Toddler Pond Death
Police are continuing to investigate the tragic death of a three-year-old boy who drowned in a garden pond in Birmingham. It is reported the toddler was found floating face down and unconscious in the water at the back of a house in Moseley on Saturday.

Four Appear In Court Accused Of Murder
A man and three teenagers have appeared in court accused of murdering a young boy in a public park. Amar Aslam, 17, was found in a West Yorkshire park on Sunday evening by two passers-by. Emergency services were called to Crow Nest Park, Dewsbury at around 7.00pm but Amar was pronounced dead at the scene.

Former surgeon charged with triple manslaughter
Mr Steven Walker, 46, a surgeon reportedly struck off by the BMA for professional misconduct, has been charged in Blackpool with three counts of manslaughter. The charges, relating to the deaths of Margaret Wilson, 63, Dorothy McPhee, 71, and Jean Robinson, 66, all from the Blackpool area, were delivered at a Blackpool police station.
