Police Appeal Following Armed Robbery Of Shop In Newry

An investigation has been launched following an armed robbery of a shop in Newry on Wednesday, 28 February.

At around 9.30pm, a man entered the shop on Canal Street and threatened staff with a knife. The suspect demanded money and is said to have fled the scene with a unknown sum of cash.

Police have said that they believe the man fled the scene in a light coloured saloon type car.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Ardmore Police Station on 101 quoting reference 1434 of 28/02/18.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.

Businesses Damaged By Blaze In Portstewart
An investigation has launched after a number of businesses were damaged by a blaze in The Diamond in Portstewart. The alarm was raised at 5am on Monday, however fire crews were called back at around 9.30am. A chip shop, coffee shop and hairdressers were damaged as a result. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Man Fatally Stabbed In Bangor
A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with a fatal stabbing in Bangor, County Down. According to reports, police responded to an incident on Beatrice Street in the town shortly after midnight, Wednesday 14 July. Upon arrival at the scene a 53-year-old man was found with stab wounds.
